- New business
- Equipment repairs
- Lathe
- Tail stock crank was broken
- if you break equipment or notice broken equipment - email thespace@sktechworks.ca
- timely notification means less downtime
- We don't know how it happened as no one informed us it was broken. It is important to contact thespace so we can get it fixed in a timely fashion and identify issues.
- Laser
- laser tube broke
- most likely due to heat/cooling issue, tubing at the back of the laser was kinked
- motion - replace tube and upgrade laser cutter controller/software and add additional fail-safes since it is down anyway
- Multiple options were considered. Middle road ERF 130W 10,000w tube has been selected.
- New controller has been selected, Ruida 6442g . Modern interface that accepts gcode and has better protections. Also comes with free software that anyone can use without a dongle.
- With new controller can use new software options. We are wanting to get Lightburn. Totally non Chinese developed. Can also install a Camera in the laser to use with the software for some neat features and origin locating.
- Miscellaneous parts
- $2400 CAD with GST estimated total cost for the above.
- James motioned to budget $2500 for the above
- Seconded by Andrew
- Accepted unanimously
- These changes, and in light of recent ignoring of alarms, new training will be required for everyone
- Power level pots will also be adjusted to prevent over driving the tube
- Open Floor
- Need to source blades for the planer
- We don't need 5 grinders
- Get rid of 3 and buy some better wheels
- We have decided to rid of the bench top PCB etcher, if no one takes claim it will go to the trash
