Even with the upstairs rent. * Social events / group projects * Calgary Makerfaire * Scott (& Rachel), John, Al went to run a table to represent Techworks at the makerfaire * While there they went and visited protospace which was interesting and eyeopening seeing the group builds that they have done. Brought home some good ideas. * Scott talked with protospace owners about their growing pains in going from ~40 members to ~220 members * John spoke to how well protospace has everything documented and everyone knows what to do and would like to see Techworks get to that level * Al offered to work with someone on a combat robot project for makerfaire next year * Small talk / Show and Tell * Nov 28 - Jeff Smith - how to publish a book * Dec 19 - James - Deck & Patio Renovation (Als now working truck will be used to bring James deck to Techworks for the presentation) * Christmas workshops * soap making Nov 16 * If you have any ideas for a workshop or would like to host one please email your idea to thespace@sktechworks.ca * Acknowledgements * Karl for screen * Rylan and Bob for drill press handle * Scott and Rachel for cleaning up the library/it room * Bun-Bun for installing new wifi AP * Equipment maintenance * laser cutters need flow sensors * Al notes that the screws on the head come loose really easy, should put some loctite on them * Router rails need to be replaced * Big band saw has a dull blade * Small band saw has no rubber wheel (Al looked it up, it is called a band saw tire) * No other issues known * New business * mentor-ship program - volunteers * Started this when we are grey ave but never followed through with it * A mentor would be someone who is willing to help new members get used to Techworks, let them into the space, help with projects and show how to use the equipment * Roger, James offered to mentor * Sheila offered to video people explaining how to use equipment * Al added there is a fair amount of responsibility expected as a member but if the mentor is unavailable and of the active members can be contacted. * Kurtis had an idea for a wall with people but it has already been started * cleaning service * Scott with talking to protospace has a cleaning service that comes in and clean the not obvious areas to be cleaned as well as the bathrooms * Al proposes that we hire Rachel (as a cleaning service) to clean the space (she already has been and there has been positive feedback on the space being unusually clean) * This does not absolve anyone from cleaning up after themselves * Al motioned to vote on having a cleaning service, seconded by James and accepted unanimously by the membership in attendance. * Kurtis talked about Saskatoon Makerfaire * Next May * If you know of anyone that would like to attend, or have a cool project, talk to Kurtis * Kurtis is looking for everything... and is working on a list * If he can't find some of the things he is looking to display he might commission people into making them (possibly techworks members?) * Asking of Techworks to volunteer and make cool projects! * Next week Al is showing the space to another maker space and is looking for people to help clean up next tuesday * Saskatoon Public library is looking for volunteers to run workshops * Stonebridge location * If interested contact Al * It was asked what the status of putting a storage container in the back for an electric kiln * This is Rylans project and he was talking about last week but status is currently unknown * Next Meeting - December 12, 2017 * Material policy * Tool clean up in dirty room * Purgatory box * Motion to adjourn accepted unanimously
